The conceptual performance Abugitmo was not intended to be entertaining. The artist is a proxy for the “detainee” and for a time, experiences what it is like to be a prisoner, denied of sight and freedom of movement while being bombarded with military music from speakers not placed for the benefit of the audience.

Abugitmo was produced and performed by DC Spensley at the Wednesday Music Series at the San Francisco Art Institute 2009.
